This month’s message is full of exciting news!  

The first is that the 2022 ICA Annual Report is now available to ICA members and the archival community.  

This issue has some new features. First, we are delighted to be able to offer you a Spanish version. We have also redesigned the structure of the report to ensure continuity in the threads that, interwoven, created the events of 2022 and made it into a year of transition. In its five main sections, the report presents the highlights of a year in which the ICA membership hosted face-to-face encounters, held virtual conversations, and conducted joint efforts to strengthen our global professional network. More important news this month is that registrations for the ICA Abu Dhabi Congress 2023 are now open. ICA members can now take advantage of the preferential rates offered for attendance at this event. The Early Bird registration deadline is 11 July 2023. ? If you are beginning to plan your trip to Abu Dhabi, we invite you to check this page to discover all the necessary information about how to travel to Abu Dhabi. The call for applications for the Abu Dhabi 2023 Bursary Programme has also been opened, so if you are interested in applying, please click here. The Bursary Programme is designed to enable as many people as possible to take an active part in Congress, especially those who would otherwise lack the financial means to make the trip. The program has been designed to attract a dynamic, diverse, and representative community to Abu Dhabi to discuss the issues that matter most to our profession.  

? Last but not least is the news about our fifth International Archives Week - IAW2023 (5-9 June). For this year, the theme is #75YearsICA ?. Under this hashtag, we will be using our three main social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn) to share details of the highlights and milestones of ICA’s history. Likewise, before the start of IAW, we will be inviting ICA members to manage our new Instagram account to show our extended community what the work of archivists looks like and present what they find best about being an ICA member. In addition, the IAW2023 program of webinars will revolve around 4 main sessions hosted by the ICA Elected Officers, the Section on Human Rights and Archives, ALA, and the New Professionals 2022/2023. Watch our website in the next few days to learn more about all these activities.

Take part in the ICA Training Programme survey!

ICA is inviting its members or any professional or institution in the archival and records management sector needing or interested in learning opportunities to take part in a survey on training needs and preferences.    

The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete, and it is available in English, French and Spanish.

ICA Fellows - Call for Nominations: Who can be nominated to be an ICA Fellow?

Do you know someone who has made a significant contribution to archives at international level? Has a member of ICA made an outstanding contribution to our organisation? Then why not propose these professionals for nomination as ICA Fellows.   

Nominees for ICA Fellows do not have to be ICA members. Please also note that fellowships cannot be awarded posthumously, and self-nominations will not be accepted.    

The deadline for nominationsfor ICA Fellows 2023 is Monday, 15 May 2023 23:59 CET. Find out more about the call here. 

Participate in the FAN Survey 2023!

The Steering Committee of the ICA Forum of National Archivists (FAN) is inviting FAN members (Category A members in good standing) to take part in a short survey on topics and areas of interest and priority for FAN over the next year.  

The survey, designed to take no more than 15 minutes to complete, is available in English, French and Spanish. The last date for completion of the survey is 21 April 2023.

SUV Conference 2023

The 2023 ICA-SUV conference will take place on 29-31 May 2023 in Dublin, Ireland, hosted by University College Dublin. The theme of the conference is Turning the Wheel: Access to Archives – Tradition and Variation. For further details, click here.  

SPP Jerusalem Conference 2023

The Annual Meeting of the ICA Section of Archives of Parliaments and Political Parties (SPP) will be held in the Knesset, the Israeli Parliament, in conjunction with the SPP Conference that will take place from 30 May to 1 June 2023. This will be the first face-to-face conference since the pandemic and the first in-person event for all SPP members since 2015. For further details, click here.
